Volunteer Corps—Great Friends Make Great Volunteers

Trained volunteers strengthen and preserve the independence of isolated, older adults by providing:
- transportation to medical appointments
- grocery shopping
- running errands
- caregiver respite and support
- friendship and regular visits
- light yard work
- light housekeeping and laundry
Connect with life. Compassionate volunteers help older adults “stay connected” in life so that they can remain in their own homes and live their lives with independence and purpose.
Make new friends. Volunteering leads to new discoveries and new friends—helps you live longer and promotes a positive outlook on life.
Train for excellence. Pre-service orientation, training and supplemental accident insurance is provided to volunteers while on duty.
Nourish your faith. Green Valley Interfaith Volunteer Corps, a part of Valley Assistance Services, provides volunteers from local churches to help isolated seniors stay involved in church activities.
Make a Difference. Member of Pima Council on Aging Neighbors Care Alliance—a network of community-minded, volunteer driven organizations that collaborate to make a difference in their towns. Volunteers contribute a value of services donated in excess of $100,000 a year in Board governance, fundraising, and participation in agency programs—allowing Valley Assistance Services to respond to the ever-growing needs in our communities.
Note: Volunteers can receive mileage reimbursement available for some transports and errands
